iii) The gate construction is all welded and gates and fittings shall be galvanized after manufacture to the requirements of BS 729
The top of the gates is level with the top of chain link fence and barbed wire of the gates is level with the barbet wires of the fences.

The bottom of the gate shall have a ground clearance of not more than 50 mm.
Infilling of the gates consist of galvanized wire fabric of the same mesh and gauge as the fencing fabric. Infilling is fixed to the frames by galvanized Clam bars; the outside of the face shall be flush.
The hanging and shutting stiles shall be extended vertically upwards 300, to carry out 3 lines of barbed wire.

iv) Hinges, at the top and bottom, shall be of the heel and socket type.
The female half of the hinge is welded to the gate frame and the plate carrying the pin shall be bolted to the gateposts and inverted.
v) Drop bolts and slam plates: Mild steel drop bolts M20 diameter, shall be so fitted to all gate frames (and therefore to each leaf of a double gate) . Correspondingly sleeves to receive the bolts shall be set securely in the ground and concreted in.

The last closing leaf of a pair of gates shall incorporate a stop which prevents one drop bolt being lifted when the gates are closed.

Double gates which will normally be kept locked shall be provided all materials required including a slam plate of not less than 10 mm thick.

Locking devices shall be fitted to all gates. A locking bar not less than 40 mm x 10 mm flat shall be secured in a frame of 40 mm X 10 mm flat welded to the gate frame at the junction of the horizontal brace on the shutting stile. Using a padlock should operate the device.

F. Concrete Surrounding Bases of Posts and Struts
i) Concrete surrounding bases of posts and struts shall be according to the standards that have been used on site. A trail mix design shall be provided prior to commencement of concrete works. Concrete shall be a type Il sulphate resisting concrete mix, 30N at 28 days strength. Foundation shall be crowned above grade to shed water.

ERECTION OF THE GALVANIZED WIRE FENCE

Eerection of fencing, gates, stinging post, corner post, post footings and all other related works required to finish the fencing.

Line and Level
Erection of the fence includes such cutting and filling of the ground required to ensure a smooth vertical profile of the line of the top of the fence. The grading shall extend for a minimum of 3 m on either side of the fence line.
Where possible the line of the fence shall be set out in such a manner that changes of direction are formed as obtuse angles, no angle being less than 130°.

Posts Erecting
Straining posts shall be provided at all ends and corners of fences, at changes of direction or at acute variations in level, and at intervals not exceeding 60 m on straight lengths of fence.
All posts shall be pipe type.
Intermediate posts shall be spaced at regular intervals not exceeding 3 m.
After insertion of posts, the holes shall be filled in stages with concrete, well rammed as the filling proceeds, and consolidated. This process shall continue until the concrete is brought to a height of 50 mm above the surrounding ground level and finished with a sloping top to prevent accumulation of water and enable run off away from the post (or strut).

Struts Fitting
Struts shall be fitted to all straining posts in the direction of the line of the fence. The bottom end shall be not less than 0.6 m below the ground level. Holes of sufficient plan area and depth to accommodate strut and concrete surround shall be excavated.
After insertion of the struts, the holes shall be filled to their full depth with concrete, well rammed as the filling proceeds and consolidated. The minimum cover on all faces and at the ends of the struts shall be 75 mm.

Line Wires
Four rows of line wires evenly spaced (600 mm).
The bottom line wire is at the bottom and top wire shall be at top of chain link fabric. The bottom line wire shall be approximately 25 mm above ground level.
Each line wire is strained tightly by means of eyebolt strainers or winders at each straining post.
Each line wire is secured to each intermediate post by a wire stirrup passed through a hole in the post and secured to the line wire by three complete turns on each side of the post.
Alternatively the line wire may pass through a hole in the post.

Fixing chain link fencing
The chain link fencing is strained between each pair of straining post and secured to each straining post by means of a stretcher bar. The top Line wire shall be threaded through the appropriate adjacent rows of meshes, care being taken that the line wire except where deviation is necessary at the straining post bypasses on meshes in rows, the fencing shall be attached to the top and bottom line wires by wire ties spaced 150 mm apart, and to the middle line wires by wire ties spaced 450mm apart.

Barbed Wire Fixing
Three lines of barbed wire is supported on extension arms on each straining and intermediate post. Each line of barbed wire is strained to the posts on each straining post and gate post by means of eye bolt strainers or winding brackets. Barbed wire is secured to extension arms. Extension arms for barbed wire on gates are not be cranked, it is vertical.

Bolts
All bolts to fencing shall be burred over.

Steel Post and Strut Treatment
Where the post or strut enters a concrete footing the following treatment shall be applied:
• Paint with asphalt
• One wrap of felt
• Paint with asphalt
This treatment shall extend 25 mm above the top of the concrete and 125 mm into the concrete.

Renovation of Damaged Areas of Hot Dip Galvanized Coating
Small areas of hot dip galvanized coating damaged by welding, cutting or during transit and erection shall be renovated either by the use of low melting point zinc alloy repair rods or powders made specifically for the purpose or by the use of at least two coats of good quality zinc rich paint.
Sufficient material shall be applied to provide a zinc coating at least equal in thickness to the original layer.

GROUNDING

All fencing system including gates shall be adequately earthed by using galvanized or copper ground rods (1500 mm long) connected to gateposts (two rods for each gate).
Fencing shall be of an approved metallic type suitable for receiving bonding ground clamps.

We can provide the services of all necessary personnel and equipment for the fence installation:
